Wrong password error prevents booting into windows to continue recovery
My hard disk had problems after an accidental power shut down. Windows XP was completely restored to my disk. I then went in and set a user name and password before I started to retrieve backed up files. Once I retrieved part of my backup I was no longer able to boot back into Windows. I get an error that refers to Isass.exe and says that there is a wrong password. The best I can do is to log into the Acronis backup loader program. I have tried various things including deleting some things from that environment and restoring other things. There does not seem to be any way to get around this problem and to be able to boot up into Windows. What am I supposed to do now? Am I going to have to completly re-install Windows and start over or is there some file that I can get to from the backup loader and delete that would fix this problem? I am completely dead in the water and would not even be able to fill out this report if I did not have access to another computer.
Thanks,
Malcolm
