Acronis protection settings needs Kernel Extensions to be approved but nothing shows on a Mac in order to approve it

Thread needs solution

After updating to MAC OS Big Sur, Acronis True Image 2021 latest build states that in order to enable protection settings, kernel extensions need to be loaded first and that those need approving in security and privacy in settings. However, when I open security and privacy, there is nothing to approve. This means that the security feature of the program cannot be activated.

The backup function works as advertised.

I have tried reinstalling the program and that makes no difference.

Any ideas.

Hello Andrew,

thank you for your posting!  I've found a similar ticket in our system, where the solution was the following:

"I found the following article from the MIT Information Systems & Technology website: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/display/istcontrib/Approving+Kernel+Extens…

As per this article:

“However, if this Allow button is not appearing, you can also approve kexts in recovery mode.

1. Startup the Mac in recovery mode.

2. Click the Utilities menu and select Terminal.

3. Enter the following command:

/usr/sbin/spctl kext-consent add TEAMID

Press Enter

e.g. for Sophos the command would be: /usr/sbin/spctl kext-consent add 2H5GFH3774

4. Close the Terminal app and restart”

I carried out these instructions for the Acronis TEAMID of ZU2TV78AA6. After restarting my MacBook Acronis True Image was fully functional."

You may want trying this solution, which helped another customer. Alternatively, I'd recommend opening a support-ticket, if the more in-depth investigation is needed.
