Actual data usage

Thread solved

How much data does Acronis Mobile Android really use? The backup size reported is growing by almost a GB per day. Does the mobile client back up everything each time? I thought (hoped) it would only back up new or changed items.

I could swear that previous versions would say it was scanning my stuff, clock up to 1000 or so, and then back up 10 or 20 items. Now it seems to back up all 1000 every time.

I'm running version 5.1.5 Build 845.

Jerry, the mobile app makes a new full backup each time it runs so can quickly start taking up large amounts of drive space in my experience.

It also doesn't offer any options to tell it to not do this, i.e. store only 1 or 2 backup versions!

At this time, I personally have deleted my own mobile backups after the latest app update was installed and it failed to make a complete backup!

I have always had the app set to only do a Backup when I choose and not automatic!

That's crazy! Forget the space it takes up; it will eat up your mobile data plan in a week.

When did this change?

Do not know about the Android version, but the iOS version has an option to "use wifi only" which is what I have always selected.

To my knowledge, this is how it has always worked!

I suspect the iOS version may have some differences. It appears to do incremental backup - initial backup takes quite a while subsequently much faster. Just did a backup and it took about 20 seconds. Total size about 1.25Gb.

There was an update to the Android app that fixed this. One of the things they fixed was double-counting of files leading to huge backups.
