Feature request - software inventory - authorized software

Thread needs solution

Hi, I would like to have an option to mark selected software in inventory as authorized. Notification about installation of new unauthorized software would be handful as well. Thanks

Hello Miroslav!

What product do you use exactly? And what do you mean exactly by installing? Are you referring to new software or the updates?

Our versions of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and Cyber Protect 15 have those features already, as software inventory and patch management where you can manage all those settings and approve the installation of new updates/patches for example.

Please check this example: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/CyberProtectionServ…

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I am sorry for the confusion. I am talking about Cloud Acronis Advanced Management and Patch management.

Agents discover applications on all devices and put them to the nice list. This list can be displayed in Acronis web console from device point of view or from application point of view across whole enterprise.

From security perspective, every organization should maintain list of all installed software, decide if the software is OK, licensed and safe and should mark it as authorized for the company. Then it is safe to keep it installed or install new instance on some other device. If it is not authorized, it has to be removed from the device. This is IT/security job to do.

The Advanced Management can display all the installed applications across organization. It would be nice to have an option to mark particular application as "authorized" or "not authorized".

If someone installs an unknown or "not authorized" software on his device, it would be nice if Acronis could send notification about such event.

I hope it is clear. Please let me know.

Kind regards,

Mirek Benes

Hi,

I am sorry, but DLP is completely different product for different purpose. We need:

1. List of applications - Advanced Management has it - OK

2. Additional information about application authorization - missing

3. Alert when installed unauthorized application - missing

Thanks,

Mirek

Thanks for the clarification.

The software inventory list is merely informative. Means it's made to help you to monitor the devices and the respective software. But our agent doesn't have any feature to deny the installation of the new software in the OS.

At the moment seems we don't have any feature request for this specifically, I will ask the team and update this thread as soon as I have any information.

Thanks.

Hi Jose,

I understand the list is merely informative and I appreciate it is there. I am just missing the information that the particular software is authorized by the IT/SEC admins.

Could you please raise a feature request for this or put it to the forum for voting?

Thanks and best regards,

Mirek

Hello!

I will contact the team and ask if we can create a feature request for this feature.

As soon as I have news I will update the thread.

Thanks in advance!
