Deployment with Snap Deploy 3 Corrupts Files after Reboot
I have a Windows XP Professional master image that was created on a HP laptop (new). I've created this image to deploy to 70 identical laptops. When I deploy the image with NO changes except for the SID, it appears to work fine. I get the customization window on the first boot & it then reboots. Here comes the problems...
I began having issues with not being able to load drivers for USB devices. Windows kept telling me that it couldn't find the drivers in C:\Windows\Driver Cache\driver.cab. So, I went to look. I CANNOT BROWSE the driver.cab file. Weird, huh? So, I grabbed another machine that had been imaged & looked @ it - could browse the driver.cab file. What I realized is this - If I login & check this file after the FIRST reboot (right after cloning) I can browse this file fine. After I reboot the machine (for a second time after the initial imaging), it seems to corrupt the file. I have no idea what else is happening.
Thoughts? I'm stuck.

Hello Robert,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Snap Deploy.
This issue is related to particular image customization. The cause is not clear for me at this step, however, I would be glad to get this situation resolved or give you some workaround.
First thing I'd suggest you is to get these drivers in .exe format (if possible) and configure your system in Master Image to run this file one time at first boot.
There are seven Run keys in the registry that cause programs to be run automatically:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunServices
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunServicesOnce
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunOnce\Setup
Please check this article for the detailed information. General description of Run keys is available here.
Using these keys you will be able to install the drivers right after first boot (if possible, you can just instruct users about installation procedure).
If you'd like to investigate the original issue, please clarify the following:
-You're not able to locate C:\Windows\Driver Cache\driver.cab file on all deployed machines, is that correct?
-If yes, what happens if you copy this file to some folder out of C:\Windows directory and then deploy, is this file displayed on new folder after deploy?
-Could you please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)?
-Could you please provide me with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the issue you report, so that I can try to reproduce it?
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
