Fedora 11 Install || refused to install to DDS 10-created partition

Admittedly, this question is not properly within Acronis' purview [i will shortly post it in the Fedora Linux forum: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/redhat-fedora-linux-help/]
but i solicit the thoughts of Acronis' denizens.
DDS 10.0 created 7 LOGICAL partitions of 23GB each, into one of which i asked Fedora 11 to install. Fedora 11 completely ignored me and created 2 PRIMARY partitions of its own: a 217.4GB, a 2GB and 2GB unallocated. I will likely delete the installation because i don't want to install at that high addressing in the volume, which circumstance has (i think) caused me severe consternation in the past when i tried to use DDS 10.0 to create additional partitions -- DDS will move EVERYTHING over -- SECTOR-BY-SECTOR ... HOUR-AFTER-HOUR!!!!
so, can someone suggest what went wrong; how can i force fedora to install into a 23GB logical partition that i created for just that purpose? if i can't use DDS-created partitions then why do i need DDS-created partitions?!
btw, what is Acronis' designation "0x8e", appearing in "WhatsThis2"
