How do you erase a cloned system drive which you want to use for regular storage?

Thread needs solution

How do you erase & reformat a cloned system drive, once you know you no longer need it.

I have one cloned backup system drive already, and would like to reformat and erase previous ones. But my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize the drive when I connect it. I assume this is because it has the same drive letter as the original system drive.

So I guess the question really is -- how do I get my computer to even recognize this disk when I connect it?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Boot the computer on the Acronis recovery CD, with your disk inside the computer, or connected to it.
Choose add new disk, select carefully which disk, looking at the disk label; Watch out! The recovery CD can show you drive letters different from Windows, so look carefully at the drive characteristics (label, size, etc.).

Alternatively, boot on the Windows installation DVD, choose install, repair computer, command prompt. Use DISKPART to clear the disk,.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766465%28WS.10%29.aspx
