Creating a hidden recovery partition.
I am looking to basically configure my Windows OS to a nice clean state, take an image of it, and then be able to store and recover that image from my laptop without needing any external CD drive or storage disk.
I think this is possible if I,
1. Install Acronis Startup Recovery Manager
2. Create an Acronis Secure Zone
3. Take an image of my system and store it on the Acronis Secure Zone
Can someone please advise me if this is possible, and what the best steps to do this would be? Am I missing something important?
Thanks,
Alex

OK, another idea then. Let me restate, that my goal here is to be able to recover my laptop without needing an external drive, because I travel often and that is not so realistic. Maybe Acronis is not the best tool for the job here? If you can recommend anything else, I'm all ears. And before you suggest a portable USB drive, let me just say that I am trying to keep everything within the same system and would like no external drives/dongles.
My laptop supports a regular 2.5" drive AND a mSATA SSD.
What steps would you take if I was to use that mSATA SSD purely as a recovery partition?

Alex,
I have a little Acer 11" portable that I made a 60 GB partition on a 250 GB HD. I simply ran a normal backup image and saved it to the 60 GB partition. It restores the computer just fine from windows or from usb stick. If the drive fails all is lost, but if windows crashes I have a backup with me.
Use the windows 7 disk management tool. Shrink your hhd partition and format the empty space.
