Unable to restore backup

Thread needs solution

I tried to restore an system backup for a unstable system. The restore from the program on main drive C failed because the RPC server was unavailable, error code OXFFFO. Tried to restore from bootable CD. but the backup drive, WD USB mass storage was not recognized by the bootable media.
I have backed up religously but they are useless if I cannot restore them in time of disater.
I was able to identify the culprit, an update to a utility program.
The backups to ATIH backups were not any help.

Help!!!!

Ed,
What version created the backup and which version and build of CD did you use to do the restore.

If the CD was not the most current, its use is a possibility.

I am using ATIH 2011. How to determine the version and build of CD?
I checked the services to make sure RPC was started and set to automatic. also Acronis server 2 was set to started and automatic

Thanks

How can I determine the build of the bootable CD?

Boot from the CD and check the Help/about area. Depending upon version, you may have to hold down on the alt key while attempting to find the Help/about menu.

The build version is 8.101. I tried using the full install version which should have the USB drivers. The WD USB mass storage was still not recognized.

build 8101 relates to version 11 which is prior to the 2009 version.
If you have a licensed version of 2011 mentioned in post #2, download the iso bootable media from your registration account and burn that as a bootable CD and retry the restore using the version 2011 build 6942.

You can also contact support and they will assist as you have a recovery issue.

Thanks for your time and efforts. I think I will upgrade to the latest version since I am using such a dated version.
thanks again

Take the time to do a full backup before you install 2012.

Also, if using version 11 or if 2011, my recommendation would be for you to un-install the old version before attempting to install the new version.
