Universal Restore issue and Device driver message

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am trying to recover a PC to a different PC using Universal Restore. I have the image loaded on an external hard drive. It is a windows XP OS. When the recovery process gets to the point of loading drivers, it gives the following error:

Device driver 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C02&SUBSYS_307C17AA&REV_05' for 'Microsoft Windows XP Professional' cannot be found.

When I first got this message, I found an article (see below) stating to ensure the hard drive controller and chipset drivers are present when doing a recovery.

The computer I am recovering to is a Lenovo Thinkcentre Edge 5711. I found a chipset driver and tried performing the recovery process again and I received the same Device Driver message as above. There are no other drivers available from the manufacturer that are for the hard disk or for the chipset.

If anyone has any advice, I would be very grateful.

Thank you in advance,
Dillon

The message you are receiving is because you do not have the hard disk controller driver available. The indicated controller is made by Intel, and is probably a AHCI or RAID controller. The information you provided about your Lenovo system is incomplete. Thinkcentre Edge systems usually have a numeric designation in the name, such as 71, 72, 91,etc followed by a 4 digit number and then an alphanumeric subcode. If you can provide this information, I possibly could help you find the correct controller driver for your system.

Thank you for your help. It's a Lenovo Thinkcentre Edge 71 1577 MT-M M6U.

If you have access to the hard disk controller that would be great!

Thank you for your help.
