Backup with Windows XP O.S. and restore with Windows7 O.S.

Thread needs solution

With Windows XP Pro SP3, Outlook 2007 and Acronis True Image 2012 I backed up the e-mail.
After formatting the hard drive, I installed Windows 7 Professional SP1, Outlook 2007 and Acronis True Image 2012.
I then tried to restore e-mail, but without success (no mail), despite the message that everything was ok.
I'm desperate, please help

Hi
its probably got something to do with the Outlook PST file
This was stored in different places in XP & Windows 7

In xp it was stored..
:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

In windows 7 its..
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\

So if you have restored the file to the xp position then this would be why you cant see any of your emails, i would restore the pst file to the desktop then copy & paste to the windows 7 location, also open up outlook & look at the settings and make sure outlook is pointing to the correct location.

Giacorri,
Pete is correct. This is not a restore. You are in fact attempting to migrate data. This goes beyond the scope of the product. In this situation, the product is designed to restore data to the environment it was backed up from. This type of migration requires you to import your data. POP3 email is the easiet to import. IMAP is a little more tricky.
