Not enough storage is available to complete this operation

Thread needs solution

Hi all,
I am testing a client backup process by creating a backup to removable media using the boot disk; this part of the process works as expected.

The problem is when I try to restore the data back to the clients PC.

After reading this forum I thought the error "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation" may have something to do with the IRPStackSize that was missing from the PC system; changing that made no difference to the restore failing.

On reflection, I cannot find the same error message when searching this forum ;(

Any ideas as to why the backup fails?

Are you trying to restore using the bootCD or from ATI started within windows?

You are doing a disk or partition backup or just a data backup?

If the latter, have you tried opening the backup (if it's a disk or partition backup) in explorer and copying out files?

>Are you trying to restore using the bootCD or from ATI started within windows?
From the clients point of view the ATI option is preferable.

Just a data backup. (a full PC system backup has worked on this PC; the PC system is a result of a successful c: drive clone)

The test process was :-
click the backup file on the removable HD/
windows xp application search activated/
selected Acronis/
Acronis opened the backup file/
I selected the root backup folder in a window type dialogue/
Selected copy/
Selected a donor test folder on the c: drive/
Selected Past/
Acronis started the copy/past process/
After an hour or so the program crashed with the stated error.

Individual folders files have been restored from this backup file but that is not a full test for validation purposes.

Thanks for you interest in finding the cause of the restore failure.
