Virtual Appliance issues

Thread needs solution

1) WHY does it take virtually forever for the 'Acronis Managed Machine service' to start on the Virtual Appliance. It just shouldn't take that long. PERIOD

2) WHY when I go to reboot or shutdown an appliance, does it hang after clicking "YES" to the 'are you sure' dialog??

3) WHY do the virtual appliances not release their snapshots of a VM? (NOTE: often they do, but also often they don't and it's frustrating leaving open snapshots around on the storage arrays)

Hi Carl

Please could you let us know what build of ABR11 and ABR11 virtual Appliance you are currently running.

It would also be useful if you could share the version of VMWare ESX server you are currently running, for example if you are running an older VMWare 3.x version please ensure you are running the latest updates such as the following issue: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&doc…

If you are using NFS volumes you might also like to look into the following VMWare article: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&doc…

If you are able to supply some of the Acronis and VMWare logs to the errors/issues that could also be of help to try and locate the issue, alternatively you should also log a support case with Acronis if this matter is urgent.

Running VMWare 4.1, latest patches. Build 17437 of Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.

Yes we are using NFS and I sometimes get leftover snapshots even when the appliance is backing up a VM on the same host.

Are those snapshots removed when the appliance is relaunched? Are there any errors in the logs?
