SSD have a different partition alignment then IDE drives. My 84GB Intel SSD has correct alignment, but now I have to RMA it. I am planning on temporarily using a 75 GB Raptor I have sitting around. My plan is to use Acronis 2010 True Image Home to image the Intel drive... wipe the Intel drive....restore the backup to the Raptor and send the Intel off to RMA. When it comes back I will reverse the process.

However, what happens when I make the Raptor IDE image and then restore it to the new SSD... will Acronis put the IDE image onto the SSD with the correct alignment?

The later versions of TI should keep the alignment, but it may not be kept with 2010. You could check the alignment on the Raptor after restoring to it. If it keeps it there it should also keep it when restoring to the SSD.
