[DUPLICATE] Endless loop when trying to reinstall ATI after drive format
Hello Acronis
It was with a feeling of deja vu that I read these words of Anton's in the opening post of this thread:- "Usage of the Acronis True Image Software start from the installation process. Sometimes it doesn't run smoothly..." You bet!
I'm trying to reinstall my copy of ATI 2012, after having been obliged to format my system drive and reinstall WinXP Home. That copy was purchased in Oct 2011, was installed without any issues then and was running normally prior to my XP reinstall.
Now it no longer installs. Instead, I'm trapped in an endless loop, as follows:-
It invites me to download and install an updated version which, after being downloaded, tells me it is no more of an update than the version whose install file I started out by clicking-on (filename: ATIH2012_5545_en-EU.exe). When I then click "install current version", it installs - but when I then start it up various strange things happen. One is that I get the attached error-message. Another is that although its splash-screen displays ATI doesn't respond to mouse-clicks; sure enough, bringing up Task Manager shows TWO instances of ATI running, both of them "not responding".
I can see no obvious explanation for this weird behaviour and so have no clue what I might do to straighten it out. I urgently need help please.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hello kaarina and James,
Thank you for posting and thank you for your help James.
Most probably the installation fails because the older program components cannot be updated properly. I would recommend using the solution from this Knowledge Base article if you still need help.
Should you experience additional problems, please post in our sticky installation thread, this will keep all the posts related to installation issues in one place and make searching for such issues easier.
Thank you.
