How to Delete old backups?

Thread needs solution

I had a scheduled backup of the complete drive scheduled daily and keep 6 months of copies - Yikes! OK, so the backup drive is out of space. I changed the number of copies to keep to 1 week. OK - but the old copies are still on the backup drive, still filling it up.

I tried using ATI's explore to delete one of the backups, and it freed up the space, but it also "hung up" with an in process message that didn't go away even after hours of waiting.

So, two things, is there a problem deleting old backups from within ATI Home 2011?

And, is there a way to "mass delete" those hundreds of old backups rather than one at a time?

Thanks,
Mike Springer

I would suggest that you create a new task and create a new full disk backup, then delete your old task (be careful to "remove" the task, not "delete" the backup) . After deleting the old task, you could manually delete the old backup files related to the removed task. Be sure to keep your last full backup. I usually make a new folder on my backup destination drive for any new task I create. Once you have created a new full disk backup with your new task, all of the old backup files could then be deleted.
