TI 2010 Home 6029 - Win 7 - mount win 7 image

Thread needs solution

I backup , restore, and validate the win 7 image with no problems. When I mount the image Acronis completes successifully and Win 7 posts this message:

Do you want to scan and fix Win 7 (I:)?

There might be a problem with some of the files on the device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all the files have been written to it.

->Scan and fix (recommended)

->Continue without scanning.

What is going on?

I just had a chat with Acronis tech support and found out the "Do you want to scan and fix Win 7 (I:) message is normal and not an error with win 7.

Whenever I see that message from Win 7 about a disk and allow the scan to proceed, chkdsk always finds errors with the file system. I've seen this occur with flash drives and external USB disks that really did have file system corruption. If you see the message after mounting an Acronis image I would consider this abnormal.

This does not occur for me when mounting images with TI version 10 running on Windows 7. Probably there is an error in the TI 2010 code. It wouldn't be the only bug in this program.

I ran chkdsk after I got the message and chkdsk found no errors. The message is not posted when mounting XP and Vista images on win 7.

Interesting. I do not get the error when mounting Win 7 images on Win 7 using TI version 10.

Mark,
I tried to mount a win 7 image created with TI 2009 using TI 2009 running in Win 7. The image would not mount. I mounted the same win 7 TI 2009 image with TI 2010 run in Win 7 and it mounted with no errors and no scan required.

I've mounted without difficulties in the past so I tried 3 different locations using Win 7 x64 with TI 2010 6029:

1. from an image on a different partition on the same internal drive
2. from the acronis secure zone
3. from an external USB drive

All three mounted without a reported error and I was able to open documents from each mounted image.

Ed:

OK; that's probably the reason. Others have reported difficulties mounting images with TI 2009.

I believe the problem I encountered with TI 2010 6029 might be caused by Adobe CS4 and their protection. I made a full backup of the Win 7 partition before I installed the CS4 Adobe Production Premium Suite. I can mount the image of this partition with problems. After I installed the CS4 Adobe suite in the win 7 partition I created a full backup of the win 7 partition using TI 2010 6029. When I mount this partition I get the windows message "Do you want to scan and fix Win 7 (I:)?" The only difference between the two images is Adobe CS4.
