I cant see how to do two things with this 2013 version

Thread needs solution

hi, have used true image home 2010 version up till now but due to a new hard drive and installation of windows 7 it wont work any more as i get a message saying it will not work with windows7

I have down loaded a trial version of 2013 but there are two things i can't see how to do.
I have asked this questions from support but get no answer for 3 days now.

1] how do you select a file only to back up for example my documents rather than the entire drive/partition.?

2] with the old version you could look in the slice and find a file or image ar whatever and copy it back or restore just that file. with a 2013 backup I can't see how to do this. is it possible?

RE file recovery options see 4.14.5 File recovery options in the same guide.

Yea, I do not like the user interface at all. Wish it had an option for power users vice one button click users. It does work if you fiddle with it long enough but what a pain.

A little late on this answer but if you still need it.... for your first question you can just right click the file or folder you want to backup and there should be a "True Image" choice to get you started. That works for me. 2nd question, if you mean can you still open up a tib and see the files in it and then copy them, yes you can.

When you find it difficult to use a program, referring to a Userguide is very often a quick and easy solution. Some things that a person might not be able to guess how to do, a person can discover is an easy operation (as simple as a right click) if just a small amount of reading is done. It's terrific when a program fits the manner in which you guess its operation--i.e., is intuitive--but we don't all have the same the same intuitions. But don't give up on reading; it can be a very useful tool.

Yes thats true you can often find your needed info in a Userguide, but you can also sometimes spend hours digging thru the menu's and not finding your answer. Usually I'm in a forum to FIND information, but if I see a question that I can answer easily and make things easier for the asker I like to do that, as I know I appreciate an easy answer to any question I ask. Not simply "go look in the manual". Call me crazy, but I think THATS what a user-forum should be all about. IMHO.

Not trying to start an argument, really, I just have had more than one case of spending HOURS google-ing, reading documentation, ect..... and not being able to find an answer then I ask it in a forum and get a generic/no help answer, or some Techno-babble stuff that has nothing to do with the actual problem. If a question has an easy answer..... PLEASE dont make me search for it AGAIN.

I'm not picking on you; you've already asked your question. But many others will read here besides you.

One of the most helpful comments one can give is "Don't forget to try the instructions if you need help.

My point is that, if you're spending hours googling, consider reading the instructions. If you're spending hours on the web researching, consider reading the instructions. Going to a forum is a quick way to use up time that could have been spent answering a difficult question or something that reading the instructions couldn't address. Generally, I find doing a search in a userguide faster than getting on a forum, typing out a question, and waiting for a reply. My point is not to snipe but to remind that the instructions are very often the quickest and easiest way to an answer about basic operation. It's not a cure all but it's like taking an aspirin for a headache instead of going to the doctor.

errrrr.......it wasnt ME who asked the question, I was the one who gave the asker a simple solution answer TO the question, although admittedly a few days late. I'm not saying NOT to look in manual/instructions, but after a reasonable amount of time/frustration of doing so, one should be able to ask a question in a forum and get a simple answer if possible. Not sure if he DID read first, but it was no sweat for me to give the answer. Like I said, I appreciate it when someone who knows the answer and can do it in a couple sentences DOES so, to save me (IF it was me asking) from another HUNT for the solution. Since I appreciate that, I try to do it for others if I know an answer. IMHO, thats what makes a forum good, people that can and do, do that. I agree, read the instructions first, but sometimes the instructions can be overwhelming to a new user. As far as "many others will read here also", more the reason to have a actual simple answer, they might be new to Acronis also, with same question. I know that when I find a question asked on a forum that I'd like to know also and I look at the responses and see an actual solution, I literally feel like raising my hands and saying HALLELUJAH! I dont have to hunt anymore! With all due respect, as I am new to this forum (and TI 2013 obviously, but used TI Home 11 for years, though I rarely visited forum) I'm not trying to be combative, so I guess we can just agree to dis-agree on whats the most helpful type of comment/response to questions.

OH, and to Mark T., I'm not crazy about the new interface either, guess cause I'm so used to TI Home 11.

John,

I think Scott was making a general comment rather than a direct reply to you, his post just happened to be directly beneath yours, but I see how it can be taken that his reply was to you rather than in general to the thread.

TI2010 should be working fine with WIndows 7. I'm using it with Win7 Ultimate 64 bit and also Win7 Ultimate 32 bit with no issues on two different machines.
