will Try and Decide protect from malware while viewing a web site?
I gather than Try and Decide can protect a PC from all sorts of problems- bad software and drivers, etc.
So, let's say I'm surfing the web while running Try and Decide- and the web site has a virus or other malware. Presumably Try and Decide will insulate my PC because when I disable T&D or just turn off the PC, the modified files will be gone.
Is it really this good? In the Norton community forum somebody said that such virtual machines aren't necessarily safe though safer than not using them.
But I'd rather get a better sense of just how safe it is- I presume programmers can break all the rules and break through most walls- which is why AV software are in a continuous battle.
I should think this scenario could be tested rigorously by Acronis- after all, I don't suppose it would be too difficult to find infected web sites.
Opinions?

Joe,
Regarding Try & Decide mode:
Among the operations you may attempt with this feature is to open mail attachments from unknown senders or visit websites that might contain potentially troublesome content.
For example, if you visit a website or open an email attachment that puts a virus on your temporary duplicate, you can simply destroy the duplicate and no harm will be done – the virus will not appear on your machine.
Try & Decide is designed to offer protection from potentially harmful situations. However, as you point out new exploits are being discovered and developed every day. Safe today doesn't mean safe tomorrow. Layered security is always a best practice. If this is a concern for you, I would use Try & Decide in addition to a regular back up routine giving you increased protection with the ability to recover should you find your system unstable or compromised.

Shadowsports, thanks for your reply. To be quite honest, I occaisionally get tempted to go to porn sites but I'm not going to take a chance with my computer as I've heard such sites are likely to be loaded with maleware- of course that might just be a rumor from fundamentalist Christians. :)
But I suppose many of those sites are trying to sell product too- so what's the point of infecting their customers?
I use Norton AV which I like a lot- I suppose with that and T&D, it might be safe to indulge.

Also, if using Internet Explorer use InPrivate Browsing mode.

T&D is slightly more convenient that doing a full system restore, but in some cases there can be issues, in particular when the computer crashes, blue screens, reboots, etc.
So yes, T&D will be of some protection.
If you use T&D, always have a disk and partition backup and/or data backup ready so that you have something to restore your system in the T&D lets you down.
Well, regardless of whether you use T&D or not, always have a backup of your system and/or data
