Excluding Recycle folder from File Backup

Thread needs solution

I have a file-based backup of my C drive that I would like to exclude the recycle folder - when I uncheck the recycle folder on the Source dialog, it appears correct, but when I save it and then edit it again, the recycle folder has not be unchecked. I also tried to use the Exclude criteria, but it only accepts file extensions. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

There is a bug in the file/folder backup selections function. When you create a new file/folder backup task and manually select the folders you wish to backup, the backup runs fine with the selections you have made. If you attempt to edit the selections, the edits are not saved correctly.

In your case, just create a new file/folder backup and make your selections correctly and do not edit them after the initial creation of the task.

Acronis is aware of this and is working to resolve it.

I did as you suggested and created a new file/folder backup with the specific folders unchecked, ran it and the backup volume was smaller in size so I suspect it worked. However, when I go into the backup set to change the backup mode from Full to Differential, will the excluded folders get included again - it certainly appears that way when I look at the folder list?

Any idea how long things take to get a fix from acronis? This is my first purchase with them - are they responsive?

Thanks

Hopefully this issue is fixed in the next release (build) of the 2013 product. I can't predict when that may occur.
Acronis does not release "patches" to their products, only new builds (which are full versions). Since they are working on more than one issue that needs attention, it could be some time before the next build is released. ("some time" is very vague, and I apologize for that.) I do not have any access to Acronis' release schedule for new builds. You could contact Acronis Customer support for more information.

If you edit the task in any way, you will possibly break the file selection again. Be sure to create it the first time with the options you want, then do not edit it again.
