Blu-Ray Support in True Image Home 2010 and 2011
Since True Image Home 2010 you have advertized that TIH supports Blu-Ray disks. I can't seem to get any answers regarding HOW it supports them. I am running Windows 7 32 bit Professional Edition on an HP XW-8200 Workstation. I have an Other World Computing Mercury Pro External enclosure with a top-of-the-line Pioneer BDR-205 Blu-Ray writer that attaches to my computer either with USB 2.0 OR ESATA connections. I have successfully installed the latest BDR-205 firmware. Nero Burning ROM recognizes and writes to both 25 GB and 50GB Blu-Ray Disks using either the USB 2.0 or ESATA connections, but Acronis TIH 2010 and trial 2011 sees the drive as a simple CD-ROM. IT would seem that TIH doesn't have the proper driver for writeable Blu-Ray drives. Am I missing something, or do you NOT support the configuration I am using?

Hello Mike and John!
Thank you for your comments!

This is a known issue with the Blu-ray disks. Our development team managed to reproduce it, and find the fault in the code. The problem will be fixed n the upcoming update for Acronis True Image Home 2010 and in the next update of Acronis True Image Home 2011.
Your opinion is very important for us, so don't hesitate to share it with us in your comments and directly with the Management team.

Sorry Yana, but I won't believe this until I see it.

Me too as the problem was obviously carried over into 2011 and there has been no updates to 2010 at all for 8 months.

So the new 2011 fix dated 12/09/2010 still does not address this issue and there still is not an update to 2010.
16 months for me now since I first reported this problem to you . when will this be fixed ?

Hello!
What's the status of blu-ray support and True Image Home? I have LG BH10 blu-ray drive, and I just can't make it work with Acronis (it does write blu-ray even using Windows7 tools).
Tried both 2010 (last version, with license key) and 2010 (last version, trialware).
Please update the Blu-ray support documentation or provide the fix for download.

I really think acronis is ignoring this serious issue.
I've dumped their product now because of the terrible suport on this problem.
Promises for 18 months now ands till no real support for b/r d/l 50gb.
It writes till 25gb+ then thinks the disk is full on the next backup.
How hard can this be to fix.

Hello all!
Thank you for your comments. Your frustration is entirely understandable. However I've checked our internal resources, and found not known issue reported regarding the latest build of Acronis True Image Home and Blu-Ray. Our Knowledge base also states that Blu-ray disks are supported.
Since obviously it's not working for you, the issue requires investigation. Could you please gather Acronis Info, screenshot of the issue, and submit a case with the information attached, and let us know it's number.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!

You found no known issue? Given that you were a contributor to the thread "10542: Unable to take backups to an LG BH08LS20 Super Multi Blue DVD drive" I find that comment impossible to comprehend. What happened to the documentation (Acronis info) I sent you on way back on 4/29/2010 that caused you to point fingers at whoever provided you with growisofs? We're rapidly approaching a full year since I reported my problem and you've gone nowhere with it. Please note that in my issue (at least) the problem was incomplete support of Blu-Ray (double-layer disks don't work), not Blu-Ray in general. I need to be able to take advantage of the additional capacity per blank.
You will be happy to help? Starting when? Given you can't even keep track of your own documentation (see Anton's comments in the earlier thread) I think I'm perfectly justified in recommending other vendors.

Hello Michael,
Thank you for your comment and being sincere in your feedback. I really understand your concern and frustration.
Since the last posts of mine and Anton's, there was an update released. In which, as Development informed us, the problem was fully fixed. We're tracking the builds with the fixes for a while. So far no new reports about the Blu-Ray support were submitted.
In case the issue remains even with the latest build of the product, we would appreciate a chance to review the situation, reopen the task for Development (if it's really the same problem) and get it solved. It's in the interests of Acronis Development to fix the problems and provide our Customers with the stable product.
I will really be glad to help you with the problem if it re-occurred with the latest build of the product, and I would really appreciate if you could check the latest build, and let me know whether the issue remains.
If there's anything else I can help you with - please, let me know.
Thank you.

2010, after installing the latest build
Disappointing to see it still does not know about D/L BlueRay (50gb) discs.
It works fine with a single layer to 25gb and a D/L , but thinks both are 25gb and fails with a disc full error when trying to write a new file past 25gb.
Fixed .......... I think not.

Thanks John; I was skeptical this was going to work for D/L but haven't gotten around to testing it yet. D/L blanks are expensive enough that I'd rather not waste one. Don't know why I expected Acronis to keep the D/L issue I raised about 10 months ago in mind...you apparently raised it well before I did and that seems to have slipped their minds too. Anyone taking bets on whether growisofs will be tagged as the monster behind the curtain again? Waiting for this issue's second anniversary...

Hello all. It is interesting that the posts on the blu-ray issues span such a range of time that makes the whole issue ridiculous. I have been waiting on a response for 4 months now that is viable, and was told the the next update for Home 2011 would fix my problem. However, after downloading and installing the latest updates, both to Home 2011, and Plus Pack 2011, nothing of interested with the blu-ray has been fixed.
Now, granted I have a newer Panasonic BDR-206BK, the 205's were not that different, and Acronis assured me that the fix would only take a short time. I even suggested they contact Panasonic, because the day of my last contact happened to be around the same time that Panasonic was releasing the upgraded 206 in Japan to do the 4 layer Blu-ray disks, and it might be of interest for them to be ahead of the game on this. Since then I have not received a single email with the status on my ticket (case #000963087)
It leaves me in the position of feeling that Acronis does not support blu-ray, as all of the reading I have done on this thread appears to agree with me. False advertising? Ladies and Gentlemen, it is NOT fixed. The blu-ray drive still continues to show as a cd-rom drive.
My recommendation for this software for the rest of the company, in order to backup individual machines on an automatic basis, has been thrown out the door. We are not a large company, but when you have approximately 37 Personal Computers or Laptops, and 2 Servers, that could really add up for a company that wants to make money. However, I will not make a recommendation for software that is not up to date, up to speed, and that is not fully functional.
I would, however, like to get what I paid for, and as of yet I have not received that.
When You get a fix, I would appreciate being contacted.
If any users have any ideas, I am open for suggestions, including other software that actually works. The blu-ray drive is seen, and burns dual layer disks just fine in Roxia, so I do know that is works just fine. I also know the system recognizes it just fine as a blu-ray burner.
Acronis, even if you have a third party application for burning or recognizing blu-ray, it is your software package, and you are responsible for a timely fix. Otherwise you are liable for false advertising. I would like a response by March 31, 2011, that gives you 30 days.
- Accedi per poter commentare
Giving them 30 days to respond just gives them another 30 days to a) ignore us or b) come up with yet another excuse why this problem cannot be fixed by their technical staff. Does anyone know if this issue has received any exposure in the major computer magazines?
- Accedi per poter commentare
Giving them 30 days does cover my legal obligations Michael. That is all I have been told I need if I have to hand this over to legal to recover lost funds on a "False Advertising" or "Failure to provided stated Services" claim. After viewing these comments further, your earlier posts, and all of the others I could stand to read, it appears that they have falsly advertised for some time now that blu-ray is supported. I was also informed that the Panasonic 205 and 206 models were virtually the same but am still trying to verify that, but the 205 was one that Acronis claims to have valdated. My OS identifies it correctly, but Acronis cant appear to figure out which one it is, and reports it not even as a DVD, but as a CD. I am looking for other software now, as I do not see any hope for Acronis. Thank You for your input and best of luck to you.

Hi All,
I just recently purchased the LG BH10LS30 Blu-ray burner and tried to back up my hard drive to 25g Blu-ray discs using True Image Home 2011 build 6597. I got the same results a previous posts. Unable to burn to 25g Blu-ray. I had no problem burning other data to my 25g Blu-ray disc.
My friend suggested I try Nero Back It Up and Burn. Nero backed up my entire hard drive to 25g Blu-ray without any problem.
Acronis needs to address this Blu-ray issue immediately or more Acronis customers will go to Nero or Roxio.

I've been using re-writable disks for now because of the expense when it fails with a regular disk.
I've never had problems getting the drive to run in 2009/2010/2011 but jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexxxxxx, its just not working with d/l correctly STILL.
I've just lost faith now and returned to my favorite Novastor etc.

A good start would be for the ATIH 2011 Blu_Ray "split" sizing to fit single-layer Blu-Ray disks. It currently creates 22.8 GBy containers,
but the formatted capacity of a single-layer Blu-Ray disk is say 22.6 or even 22.4.
I could use another utility to record the container files to Blu-Ray if they were properly sized.
- Accedi per poter commentare
Acronis just doesn't seem to care that it doesn't size correctly, my drive works fine but it never sees the disk as a D/L and just says disk is full even when it is less than 1/2.

Blu-ray mis-advertising continues.
I have a LG BH10LS30 Blu-ray burner and Acrons True Home 20111 that does not work with 50GB blu-ray disks.Another fellow above has the same drive.
The drive works with a bunch of other authoring and writing packages. JUST NOT ACRONIS.
I tried to make a bootable recover DL 50GB disc, and it failed, also making the disc unusable. I tried to do a backup directly to a DL 50GB disc. They both failed, leaving the disc unusable. At $5 per disc, Acronis owes me $20 for false advertising.
This issue appears to have been going on for years and Acronis has been ignoring the issue.
DO NOT BUY Acronis if you intend to use Blu-Ray DL discs. Of course you buy backup software to use all kinds of media. So why buy Acronis when they ignore largest capacity optical media that has been around a long time.
I would suggest a more practical approach than us just complaining on the blog. Every one of us should write the Better Business Bureau to get our money back AND have them remove all references to their support of Blu-ray discs. It only takes about 5 minutes on-line. If no one complains, then Acronis will have not reason to fix their problems and false advertising, which is clear just looking at all the above complaints.
It seems unreasonable for a user to have to first search the boards before doing anything to make sure a feature is REALLY supported. If it's advertised, it should work. If it doesn't work, the the advertisement should be removed.

Sigh, I made an account just to tell you guy this. Your flipping idiots. No wonder they are ignoring you. You lack the grey matter to make a backup, and the (!!!) move it to your bluray!! Gasp! Awe! Wowze! Such a brilliant concept! Yes it's not excusable that it does not even see my bluray burner, but it's not enough to be internet trolls. If you don't have the space to make the backup, tb hdds are 60 bucks now, and you managed to afford a 100+ bluray burner.
- Accedi per poter commentare
Your sarcastic reply is of little value because your understanding of other people's needs is so limited. You don't see the big picture. You just jump to a conclusion.
We use Acronis True Image to make Image backups. These images are usually in the 100 to 300 GB range, way beyond the 25/50Gb capacity of a Blu-Ray. To use your suggestion we would have to physical be there to swap out discs 2 to 6 times, which would be a colossal waste of out time and not classify as an unattended backup.
We have one 2 TB drive which we will start doing occasional images for, and just imagine how many of your Blu-Ray discs it would take.
The real reason Acronis is not paying attention to us is they don't want to take the time.

Thank You Dennis. Jim, to make an account just to tell us all what you think, well, I will give you something that you could not seem to afford your self, professional courtesy. Acronis did finally get a support person on the line with me, and the burning issue was resolved, although it had to be through making the drive available through another application first. As for the quantity on the backup and the reason for it, I do not have to explain my self, but I am going to just to prove a point. Had I the need for a 1Tb HDD, I would have purchased one. I do not need that much. 17 to 20 Gb is all I need, for storage off-site, and a Blu-Ray disk works perfectly for that. Oh, and one last note.....for those that think they have excessive gray matter, if I drop my disk and damage it, I have a second copy and can recover it, but if you drop a hard drive and it crashes the heads, you will be paying the bucks to recover the data, then replacing the drive. For my needs Acronis and my Blu-Ray are working just fine for now. Before the comment comes up about my projections for the future, this configuration should last me for the next 4 ot 5 years. As for colorful comments, well, I only have this to say. Thank You Acronis for coming up with a viable solution to my problem, it is working just fine now.

Any update to this issue? I just bought Acronis True Image 2012 Home Edition, and I can't burn DL 50gig or Single Layer 25gig blu-ray disks with Acronis. I have to save an image to my HDD first then burn it to the blu-ray to back it up to disk. I hardly call that blu-ray support. I've read the forum posts on this and understand that it was/is a known issue. Acronis support, please update us as to this issue. I'm just about ready to ask for a refund and go with a competing product as this is an important feature to have working.
