A much easier choice for making the bootable usb is to use win to flash.. I made a full video tutorial with step by step instructions.
You can view it here: how to make a bootable USB. The video tutorial was made using a windows 7 image disk, but it makes no difference what you want to put on it.
Please let me know if that helped you.
Pat L wrote:A couple of things to try:
- launch a command prompt with administrator rights,
- diskpart
- list disk
- select disk X, where X is your flash drive
- clean (be careful to select the right drive, this will completely erase the drive)
- exitThen right click on the computer icon on your desktop, storage, disk management. Right click on the flash drive to initialize the disk and to format it.
Try again with the media builder.
If this doesn't work, download the Acronis bootable ISO from your Acronis account and use Grub4dos to boot directly into the ISO on the USB disk.

ok, I'll give this a try and post back results. I guess i could just take the iso (i did build the iso burn to cd which worked ) and try rawwrite to my usb (or dd from linux ), but i'll try your suggestion first.
thanks for your time.
