Another Windows 7 "Bootmgr is missing" problem
Hi, I know this topic has been covered many times but I do not quite follow the steps to resolve it so I am hoping for further clarification. I just restore my windows 7 laptop using trueimage home 11 due to a suspected virus. what I did was restoring from an image file saved on a separate partition on the hard drive, and I chose to restore only drive C as an "active" (as opposed to "primary" or "logical") drive (I didn't restore any other drives). Apparently this was a poor move as I got the "Bootmgr is missing" right after the restoring was done.
From reading aprevious post, it seems that the best way of fixing this was bcdboot.exe C:\Windows /s C: , but I do not know how to get there- i think it needs the windows 7 repair disc (which I think is different from the installation disc). At this moment I do not have a windows 7 repair cd, nor does this laptop has any dvd drive. However, I think I can get the windows 7 repair thing onto a usb drive as I have another laptop with windows 7 and a dvd/cd writer (which supposedly can generate a recovery thumb drive).
I really hoped if someone would be able to walk me through step by step on how to resolve this issue- I think I can get the recovery thumb drive but have no ideas what to do from that point on. I just want to have my windows back. Thank you very much in advance!

Do you have a System Reserved partition on your disk? If so, it contains the files needed to boot Windows and is the Active partition. If you restored only the Windows partition and then made it Active, the PC would have tried to boot from the Windows partition but would not have had the files needed to do so.
To prove or disprove this, can you post a screen shot from Windows Disk Management showing your disk layout?
