Wish I had tried before buying because I have the same issue. I just uninstalled 2013 and will go back to my earlier version. Toshiba Tecra 1.66GHz, 2.5 GB RAM, WinXP.
Uninstall just completed and Explorer is back to its snappy self. Problem definitely with ATI 2013. Hope team Acronis patches this show stopper soon.

HI all,
Some personal feedback, I too saw a freeze in Explorer/My Computer, this occurred when booting with a flash drive attached, booting with flash drive removed no problem..
My 2 cents worth..

Interesting - I keep a flash drive attached as well.
It is formatted NTFS and has encrypted folders that keep my KeePass database and keys.

Hi,
Did you try without flash drive?
I have Roxio on all my computers and Viper, both programs with their "fingers" into files and the like, combined with TI 2013/PP perhaps not friends...

No I didn't try that. No I don't have Roxio.
EDIT: ROXIO! Oh do you mean Retrospect?
I think of it as Dantz or EMC, not Roxio.
But yes, I have that and I use it for nightly incremental backups.

Same problem with Windows 8 Trial version and ATI 2013
I try disable Acronis Shell Extensions with ShellExView utility today. The error don't error until now.

David,
If within 30 days of purchase, you can ask customer support for a refund--if that is your preference.

Thanks for the info. I see some users experiencing this problem have USB flash drives attached. I do not but I do have an external USB backup drive connected to my system. Maybe it's got something to do with the USB bus.

I didn't have any USB storage connected when I had this problem (before the uninstall tool fixed it).

I don't have any USB drives thumb drives attached either.
Opening a folder with 130+ files in it takes almost forever making 2013 unacceptable for use.

No sure if this has anything to do with your problem but my computer started exhibiting the same problem after I installed google music. I disabled all the Acronis services and the computer works fine. I am going to remove google music and let you know. -Manny

I experienced this issue to after installing ATI 2013 in WinXP Pro--installed over a previous installation of 2011. I tried disabling the shell extension (unchecked "Shortcut menu commands" under "Integrate True Image into Windows") with no effect. Then I disabled the Acronis Sync Agent Service and after reboot that seems to have fixed the issue.
I only use ATI for backup to an external HD via USB.
I wasn't getting total freezes in Windows Explorer, just long delays.

I saw exactly the same right-click hang problem with Windows 8. I think I might have a clue. I cloned my system drive with TI (worked fine) so I could experiment with this problem. The problem occurred within minutes of a TI backup running (but not exactly coinciding). If I didn't let the TI backups run, the hang didn't occur.
My system drive was terribly fragmented. The original drive is an SSD, which is not supposed to be defragged. The clone (a spinning drive) was similarly fragmented, of course, with the worst file having 930 fragments and the next 637 and then 469. I thought that this might be a good time to see how much defragging the disk would speed up the boot. I defragged it with Auslogics' defragger. (It didn't speed up the boot much.)
After the defrag, I have not seen the problem. I am wondering if a TI background process gets hung up on fragmented files. Since TI is included in the right-click menu, does Explorer need a response from TI with every right click? Will Explorer hang waiting for TI?

I resolved this problem to my satisfaction.
This was discussed in another forum, see my post here:
