[DUPLICATE] Can't find drivers for Extended Capacity disks

Thread needs solution

My desktop PC runs Win XP. Last year I installed a 3 TB drive using the extended capacity disk software to create 2TB and (near) 1 TB partitions. It worked well. But then I had to repair/reinstall WIndows, and have lost the drive. How can I restore proper function of this 3TB drive WITHOUT reformatting it?

When I reboot the PC, there is a message box to the effect that drivers need to be installed, may work if I restart the computer. Opening Acronis, the Tools and Utilities page, Extended capacity manager, I get the message that "The entire space is accessible, no disk with MBR larger than 2 TB etc.. All drives can be managed by Add New Disk tool." When I "View the current state of the disks", it shows the 3TB drive, capacity (around) 764 MB, but strangely the graphic implies 2 TB, as I recall.

In Windows Device Manager, does the 3TB drive show up with a question mark?

I'm wondering if there is a registry entry which makes TI think it has activated the extended drive driver when Windows itself hasn't registered it.

I assume True Image has been reinstalled as you've reinstalled Windows, so I'm puzzled as to why TI won't activate the driver.

Thanks for that. I uninstalled TI and reinstalled it. The drives reappeared so I have been able to update my backups. However, I still get the message during start-up - have to investigate whether it's caused by another program!

Hello Everyone,

We have released a Knowledge Base article that addressed this issue and provides a download link for the virtual disk drivers.

You can find it here:
