True Image 2013 File Synchronisation Problems
I thought that I would create a new topic as I posted my original comments on another forum topic (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/38672) and don't want to cloud that issue with my specific issues.
Thank you to everyone that has assisted for far.
To be honest I am a little bit frustrated at the moment as I have spent countless hours trying differnt things to get synchronisation to work. It was one of the main reasons I decided to upgrade to 2013 and stay with Acronis for a backup solution.
In their sales literature Acronis say "Plus, you can easily synchronise files between local and network folders, multiple PCs...The newest sync technologies are here. We’ve made synchronization fast, secure, and breathtakingly simple. The files you choose are pushed to all your devices - automatically, effortlessly, and seamlessly"
Well unfortunately I have not had this experience at all and to make matters worse the synchronisation on my own dedicated machine no longer works... :-)
I will try and summarise my environment and situation.
I have two PCs in my household, both Windows 8 Pro. My PC (which is running 64bit) and Family PC (which is 32bit). I have a two NAS drives, one of these is used for backups only.
On My PC I am the only user, on the Family PC my wife and 2 kids use the PC (I also use the PC but don't store data on it and only use my account for administration type tasks).
Firstly I have standard file backup tasks working successfully and saving data from My PC to my NAS.
(I had some issues with Email Backup task, but gave up and resorted to standard file backup) - But that's another story!
What I am trying to achieve is as follows.
I have a shared network drive for each family member on the NAS this is to store backups of Documents, Pictures and Favourites (could be more but for now this is all I want). In fact these are not backups but I want sync copies of them for two reasons - should they access the NAS from another 'device' in the house (ie. iPad) and modify the contents then when they login back on the Family PC it will synchronise the files. Secondly later, I will let my wife on My PC (hehehe) and then her documents etc will be synchronised across PCs as well. The other good thing about synchronisation is that there is always a copy of the raw file and not in a backup archive that needs True Image to get access to it.
I have yet to do standard file backups of the Family PC at this stage until I can get syncronisation to work...its on my to do list.
Anyway...here is what I have done to date:
1. Setup mapped drives for each user so that H: drive maps to their own NAS folder
2. Each NAS folder has their own seperate credentials to ensure data is private/inaccessble to other users.
3. Each user also has mapped drives to the other NAS but I am not doing anything with those other than for the user to access media and files on those shares etc. (maybe not relevant to this topic..but thought I woudl mention it anyway just in case)
I only want to sync when they login to the PC. I am not sure if TruImage syncs in the background for other uses while another user is logged in? Does anyone know the answer to this?
OK....so from this I could get MY pc to work and 1 user on the family PC to work.
I was advised not to use mapped drives as True Image has issues with this approach.
So I used UNC paths (ie. \\NAS\share\folder). Now the problem with this is that the windows asks for credentials and I say to remember them. But Acronis never asks for credentials (as it does with standard file backups to shares....mmmmmmm)....
Anyway...no luck with this solution.
(Also tried using IPs ie. \\192.168.0.10\share\folder - with no luck)
Next step, I took off all permissions of these backup shares to allow anyone (inc. guests etc) to have full access to these folders....thinking that it may be a permission issue...Unfortunately No Luck.. still failures are reported.
I am not at a loss as to why these fail and the cryptic error codes are not useful/KB doesnt come up with anything either.
Now the user that did work on the Family PC is no longer working...so no users are working now on the Family PC.
(FYI. I logged into each users profile on the Family PC and setup their syncs using my administrator account)
What am I doing wrong here? Based on the sales literature it should be easy!
These are the sorts of errors that I have been getting:
Event code: 0x019A005A+0x01910026+0x01910037+0x0191003C+0x00000005
Event code: 0x019A005A+0x01910026+0x01910037+0x0191003C+0x00000001
Failed to copy changes of synced data from FAMILYPC to FAMILYPC: Failed to update sync metadata. Try again later. The sync will be restarted automatically l
Event code: 0x019A005A+0x01910026+0x01910037+0x0191003C+0x00000001
The the user that did work once now comes up with
Failed to copy changes of synced data from FAMILYPC to FAMILYPC: Failed to get difference between two metadata databases. The sync will be restarted automatically later.
Event code: 0x019A005A+0x0191003F+0x01910037+0x00040011
Question....is this correct....
Failed to copy changes of synced data from FAMILYPC to FAMILYPC:
Should it be somethign like ----
Failed to copy changes of synced data from FAMILYPC to NAS:
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks Mark for your suggestion. I am definitely going to give this program a look into.
I wish though Acronis True Image 2013 actually worked as advertised for Syncing!
I ahve posted comments back on the original thread around what I have found out after some futher investigation.
There appears to be a permissions issue with some TrueImage files used by the Sync process on the NAS...which may be preventing Syncing from working....
I will report back in a couple of days on any further progress and feedback as well on SyncBackSE!
