ATI 2011 - Backup on two HDDs - problems with images names

Thread needs solution

Short English Version:

I backup with ATI 2011 (newst built) every day (mo - sa) with a seperate plan on an external HDDs. The images name is Montag.tib and so on. Every new week the Montag.tib is overwritten - so far so good.

When I connect a diffrent (identical) HDD, ATI2011 adds numbers and letters to the image name (Montag.tib_013B16E1-277E-4FCA-8DD8-AC53351A56D1). Does anyone knows why and how I can fix this?

Thanks

German Version:

Hallo,

I believe you have stated that each disk has its own specific task and are not inter-mixed. It would seem to appear that a backup was run with the wrong disk attached. or at least the data base is corrupt.

My recommendation would be that you create two new backup tasks and assign different drive letters to each external disk (such as x and y). Use the X and Y as the target disks and point the new tasks to new empty sub-folders so there is no mix of backup files on the disk within the same folder. Each backup run is associated with a specific disk.

Also consider adding MVP's "Drive Notify" program as part of the task and it will notify you (via a notification popup window) to attach a specific disk so the backup can continue. The program will not proceed with the backup until the correct disk is attached. If the wrong disk is attached, the program will wait until the correct disk is attached. Refer my signature below for a link to Drive Notify if you are interested. There is both a free and purchased version.

Hello GroverH,

thank you for your quick respond. It's right, I have created one task a day and was willing to mix two backup disks.
It's because, the disks are not changed every day or week. There is no fixed rythem.

Is there a chance to say ATI not to check the disk, just write on the disk witch is connected (to the same dirve letter)? If there is allready an Image with the same name rewrite it?

Thank you for your help.

There is no way to stop TI from checking the disk properties. One option might be change the disk serial number so both externals had the same serial numbers which would cause TI to not see any differences.

If TI sees the same *.tib file name, it will write a new full--most likely.
The secret to your procedure is provide the correct disk or the disk which the program is expecting.
