Incremental backup not available after fresh OS install!

Thread needs solution

I recently reinstalled my operating system and all my software. Now Acronis isn't allowing me to continue incrementally backing up all my hard drives. The backup button is no longer there. Only the recover button. How can I continue where I left off. I really don't want to create new backups b/c the drives are rather big.

You can right click on a backup listed, and select "recreate backup settings"

If you recreate the backup settings, using the same source selections, point to the same destination folder, and use the same base filename, you should be able to continue with the incremental backups, BUT, if you did a fresh install the next incremental backup of your system drive will backup the entire drive/volume, as it will appear to have changed every block/sector on the drive/volume. If you have additional backups listed, and they are for data drives that were not wiped and reloaded, the incremental backups should be able to continue where they left off.

Although you can attempt to do this, any retention/pruning rules you had previously set up will no longer be in place, and any new rules you set up may have unexpected results due to the backup files not being correctly tracked in the Acronis databases used for such purposes.

It has been my experience that creating new backups tasks to new empty folders will provide the most reliable backup function/operation with Acronis True Image. This may be inconvenient initially, but worth the effort in the long run.

I'm doing this for my Audio Drives (basically data drives) and not my operating system drives. I'm confused about how to do this. If I right click on the backup......let's say "Audio W Drive" and select "Recreate backup settings" it goes to the "configure disk backup process" screen. If I select "Audio W Drive" as the source and "Audio W Drive" as the Destination and keep the same Backup name it says "It is not recommended to back up a partition to itself". Am I doing something wrong?

You have to select "Browse" in the destination list. Locate the backup files that have already been created, and select this as your destination. On the file name box (while browsing the destination location) enter the same base file name as the previous backup file(s). The "Backup Name" on the "Configure Disk backup process" screen is the task name and can be different than the file name in the destination. You must set the backup file name while "browsing" to the destination.
