Deleting old backups

Thread needs solution

Looking at the support website, I have just seen the following statement:

"Therefore, deleting unneeded backup files in Windows Explorer will not delete information about these backups from the database, and True Image 2013 will consider that they still exist.

This will result in errors when the program tries to perform operations on the backups that no longer exist. So you must only remove obsolete backups and backup versions by using the tools provided by True Image 2013."

Having used TI13 since Christmas, I have deleted a number of previous backups during my early days with the program.

My question is simple - how do I remove the old data files and prevent errors as outlined in the Acronis help files above?

On the Backup and Recovery Tab, right click on any task to reveal a context menu. Select Recover Files and a timeline based Window will open. At the bottom of the Window, you will see the dates and times of your backups that Acronis is tracking for that task. Right click on any of them to reveal the "Delete" option. Be sure to remember that if you delete a full backup that has incremental or differential backups associated with it, all of the following backup files will also be deleted. This correctly deletes the files from your backup destination and updates the Acronis database by removing the associated entries.

Following your instructions James, all I can see is my local hard drive, I cannot see my external hard drive where my backups are located.

I think what you are seeing is the contents that were backed up in the top screen of the "Recover Files" window.
Each of the dates is related to the drive/file/folders that you backed up.
When you hover your mouse over a selected date at the bottom of the timeline, a popup will display the location of the backup file(s).

Rick,

If you are using Vista,W7/8 you can use the Snipping tool to make a screen grab (start\all programs\accessories) or with XP CRTL+ Print Screen will make a copy which can then be pasted into Windows Paint and saves in JPG or PNG format.
