Acronis Continues to Fail During Boot Test of Recovery CD

Thread needs solution

I used Acronis 2010 for a number of years.
I have just purchased and installed Acronis 2013 since Acronis 2010 would not recognize my new 4TB external drive.
Actually, it would see the drive on occasion, but not recognize any of the contents on the drive.
I created a recovery CD and booted to test it.
When I select the “Source” disk, I can see all drives, including the 4TB one.
When I then select the "destination drive", Acronis simply terminates and my PC reboots. This does not happen all of the time, but frequently.

I downloaded an ISO, burned a CD, and retested with the same result.

However, I discovered that I was clicking on “My disks” under Home from the main menu instead of going through the Backup section and selecting Disks and Partitions backup. When I went through the Disks and Partitions, the menus progressed as expected with no errors. I’m guessing that the other route was not allowing Acronis to read and recognize all drives.

Update: Having used Acronis to create several images, the product is still very problematic. Today, it would not see my 4TB drive. I reloaded the software several times into memory and it finally did see the external drive. Then it crashed again.

I was finally able to image my boot drive to anther internal drive and copy the image from there to my 4TB external. But, Acronis will not see the 4TB drive on a regular basis.

My system:
Alienware Aurora, Intel(R) Core(Tm) I7, CPU 920 @ 2.67GHZ;
Intel64, Family 6 Model 26, CPU Current Clock Speed: 2668mhz;
6GB DDR3 Memory,
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64 bit
Seagate 4TB external drive
Source disk is an SSD.
Acronis 16.0.5551

What can you tell us about the 4TB disk. Is this formatted as a
GPT disk
Split into 2 partitions and both as MBR
or Dynamic, etc.
