automatic scheduled full images backups

Thread needs solution

I do full image backups manually via booting off the acronis cd. However I want to schedule "full image" backups to run automatically during the night. I tried "backup partition" and it did create a .tib file but when i restore this to a new hard drive it will not boot. When creating the "image" via booting off cd it will restore to a new hard drive and boot. Can I schedule a automatic "full image" backup ?? thanks in advance chris

Yes, you can. Switch to what we call Disk Mode, where you can select the entire disk with one checkbox (rather than selecting partitions). See Grover's How to Create a "Disk Image" or "Disk Mode" Image or "Disk mode" image & more

I'm not surprised that your partition backup wouldn't boot when restored. Windows often requires files that are present on a partition other than C:, such as a hidden partition. Too many users assume that all they need is C:, so they backup only C: and are surprised to discover that it results in an unbootable system. That's why we MVPs recommend that you create full disk mode backups, as a full disk mode backup is the simplest and, IMO, most reliable type of backup.

Thanks Tuttle,

Chris,
At the link he provided, look at the illustration 11-Full for an example of how to set up your full backup scheme.
The disk mode option is the same as when you check mark the disk when doing a backup via the CD.
