Update 1 for True Image Home 2013 fails to instal
I have a registered copy of TIH 2013, with PlusPack, running on Windows XP Sp 3.
When starting it recently it invited me to update it with Update 1.
When I ran this installation it appeared to proceed normally until
"Registering modules", "Installing", "Rolling back action"
"An error occurred while installing True Image 2013. Installation has failed. Fatal error during installation."
The error box gave the error code 0x00620002+0x0000FFF0+0x80070643 and provided a link to the support web page, but that just said "There is no information about this error available now" and "If the issue still requires resolution, please contact Acronis Customer Central".
The Customer Support service said that I would have to pay, because support for my copy of TIH2013 expired last January. There is nothing wrong with that copy - my problem is with the April 2013 update, but there is no provision for telling them this. :-(
I see a previous response to installation problems on this forum suggests uninstalling previous versions and/or running a cleanup tool which will remove all traces of previous versions.
- Is this necessary when the previous version is 2013?
- Is the update file a complete version or does it just replace some of the files?
- Can I download and instal it if all traces of my previous version have been removed?
- Will I lose my records of existing backup files and configuration?
- Does Update 1 include an update for PlusPack, or do I have to find or download the previous version of PlusPack and reinstall that after installing Update 1?
Any other ideas, or should I just ignore update 1?

Attempts to install the Update 1 for True Image 2013 always end in a rollback "failed to install".
Tried to uninstall ATIH2013 completely and re-install but worse, the new install also ends with a rollback "failed to install" and I was stuck with no True Image Home!.
I had to boot up from rescue media and recover a past image, with the rollback "failed to install" still there, OS is 64-bit Windows 8 Professional.
HELP!

Elim,
After following the suggestions above your post, your next option is to run the Acronis installer until you get the install meu, right click on 'install' and select extract. This will extract the actual installer file from the Acronis wrapper, close the Acronis installer down. Now, right click the resulting MSI installer file and select 'run as Admin' try to install from the MSI installer.
You might find you need to temporarily deactivate your firewall and AV software, it might be trying to prevent the installer from running.
If this still fails, you need to find the MSI log file, this will be in your temp folder, remove the serial number from the file (it is just a text file with a 'log' file type) and if it appears your email address and attach it to your next post.
