cloning ssd to mechanical drive

Thread needs solution

I would like to clone an ssd drive to a mechanical drive. The ssd has 2 partitions XP pro 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit. Is this possible? The ssd is 256bg the mech drive is 500gb. Or is there a better method of moving the ssd drives 2 partitions to the new drive? Thanks

Cloning will work. You should have the ability to allocate the additional space manually, or allow the cloning operation to allocate it automatically.

Cloning can be dangerous if you do not pay close attention to the source and target disk selection screens.

If you accidently select the disks wrong, you may clone the blank new disk to your source drive.

If you have an additional external drive to which you can do a full backup (full disk image) to, I would advise you to do so in any case.

After performing the full backup, the backup image file could be used to restore to the new disk as if you performed a clone.

BACKUP AND RESTORE (as opposed to cloning) IS THE RECOMMENDED METHOD. This takes longer, but is safer and more flexible in use.

Perform your backup, restore, or clone operations from the bootable Acronis Rescue Media to get Windows out of the equation for best results with this project.

Thanks a lot. I will take your advice and do the full image backup and restore. Again Thank You
