Can I rename the backup name appearing at top of backup box

Thread needs solution

When i look under the Backup and Recovery tab, i see a list of backup boxes. The backup name appears at the top of each box, such as "MyBackup". How can I rename this to something more useful? (such as "Backup May 27 2013")?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, you can, when you create a new backup task. At the point that you select the destination location, you may enter your desired filename for the backup. That's the only time that you can choose a name. If you try to edit the task later, you'd just be changing the name of the backup task but not the filename.

Note that the backup task may have a different name from the backup .tib file.

Thank you for the info Tuttle.

That takes care of backup boxes created by running new tasks.

How about when I browse for backups? In that case, I get a backup box and title but no Settings exist. How can I change the backup name for that case?

Before browsing for (and adding) a backup file that is not listed in the Backup and Recovery tab, rename the file in Windows Explorer to something meaningful to you (do not change the files extension from .tib).

You will not have a Settings menu item on these browsed for backups, as they are just being added to the list, and are not tasks.

You will be able to validate and restore only from these items.
