Cannot get F11 boot option on new Dell running secure boot

Thread needs solution

I have True Image 2013 build #6514. I have a new Dell Inspiron 15R running Windows 8 Pro. It uses the BIOS with secure boot.

The Startup Recovery Manager where you can press F11 does not work. It does not even offer the option to push F11. It causes a boot error and then dumps me into a BIOS menu that allows me to choose how I want to boot my computer.

I tried disabling secure boot and using legacy mode. I still don't get the F11 option.

I have read on this forum that this is resolved in build #6514 but it is not.

If I upgrade to version 2014, does the F11 option work normally?

Thank you!

I'll let someone answer who has tried Acronis Startup Recovery Manager on a Win8 PC. But, FYI:

I do not see the value of the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. The bootable Rescue Media is available when needed, so I don't see any reason to allow the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager to modify the PC's boot. Acronis Startup Recovery Manager adds complexity and risk without any real value over using the bootable Rescue Media. If activated, it modifies your system drive partition table, which can cause problems with multi-boot managers and other low-level disk utilities. I prefer just to use the bootable Rescue Media when needed, either from CD or USB flash drive.

Thanks Tuttle... good point. I was leaning toward just not using the recovery manager at all... you pretty much helped me make the decision. Now I have to see if I can get this thing to boot from a disc. You seem to have to jump through hoops to get it to that too with this secure boot deal. I will probably have to disable secure boot.
