TI2013 build # 6514 restore crashed my Windows 7 & 8 machines

Thread needs solution

I only use TI to backup and restore my system partitions, and not much else. However, when I start to do a Restore, the window shows my C drive and what appears to be a system partition.

When I did a restore on my Windows 8 machine, I selected both options. The system rebooted and started restoring. Then all of a sudden it stopped and when the system came back, the MBR was totalle hosed. Since the system didn't come with Windows 8 disk, I cannot do anything to make it work.

When I did a restore on my Windows 7 machine, I only selected drive C since I didn't want to get same problem as other machine. Well, similar thing happened. It crashed the system, but not the MBR. Fortunately I own Win7 Ultimate disks and so was able to reinstall windows 7 on the system. However, I reinstalled TI2013 and attempted to restore once more and same thing happened.

Any ideas, helpful suggestions would be welcomed.

Download the bootable Rescue Media ISO (listed as Bootable Media) from your Acronis.com account. The web site lists it as the same build number as previously, but is actually newer build 6528.

Burn it as bootable CD, or use a utility to make a bootable flash drive. Boot from that to perform any restores.

Just grabbed it. Will try it when i get home from work. Will let you know the results.

By the way, will I be able to select the images I created previously, or will this tool only let me back into the system?

Also, when I am picking what to restore, should i select the specific drive only, or all the options shown?

Tank you!

Rescue Media can backup and restore, as well as validate and a few other features.

Your selections for a restore depend upon what you wish to restore and what you included in your backup.

After your burn the new CD from the download, boot from it and confirm the build number as 6528. It will be newer and different than the one you created from the installed version.

Yes, you can use the new CD to create backups and to restore prior backups. You can store them whevever or retrieve from wherever.

What you pick to restore depends upon your needs. If not having boot problems, then restore only C.

If having various problems, then do a disk optioon restore. Link 3 below, item 2.

Windows 8 should offer the option to create a Windows 8 Recovery CD. On a Win7 system, this option is listed on start/programs/maintenance folder.

If you post future questions, it would help if you would clarify whether either your 7 or 8 used GPF disks and UEFI partitions.
There have been numerous postings which might help if you use these type disks and partitions.
