Acronis True Image Home 2010 Cleanup Utility
My WinXP machine has a corrupted version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 that will not uninstall. I've searched acronis.com for a cleanup utility like the ones provided for later editions - 2011, 2012 - but without success. These utilities carriy the caution that they are unique to the specified editions. This thread, http://forum.acronis.com/forum/7513, deals with the 2010 uninstall problem, but the link to "please download Acronis Clean Up Utility, unpack and run it" is blocked by Acronis.
I burned many hours two years ago, trying to get True Image Home 2010 to work - recall that it had an arcane problem with a registry entry that had to be changed manually. Now I'm burning more hours trying to uninstall it.
Any solutions or shared experiences would be appreciated.
Dunno what you mean "blocked by Acronis"? The cleanup utility is right here, and I had no problem accessing it:

Yes it says 2011 but it worked fine for me. Follow instructions CAREFULLY! TO THE LETTER! DON'T REBOOT UNTIL YOU'VE CHECKED/DELETED THE REGISTRY ENTRIES! ONLY DELETE THE REGISTRY VALUE STRINGS, NOT THE ENTIRE KEYS! ETC!
My thanks to both James F and Tomf for your replies. I used the majorgeeks.com app to clear the residual Acronis records (or whatever). Then I was able to re-install Acronis 2010, and upgrade to Acronis 2011.
Tomf: I had looked at the link you suggested, but was put off by the line, "(!) This tool is not compatible with other versions of Acronis True Image Home". Since I was trying clean up Acronis 2010 and suspecting that Registry changes might be involved, thought I should proceed carefully.

(But your mileage may vary.)

I can't begin to imagine why Acronis puts that disclaimer into that kb document--if you look at the images of the cleanup utility there, you'll clearly see all the versions the utility works with.
Given all the trouble users have had un-installing their products, you'd think they would at least not discourage them from trying the one utility/procedure that works 100%!

Hey the cleanup utility is not downloadable, I logon to acronis website which in itself makes me wonder what they are after. Then I try to download the cleanup utility for a program well should have been written better and I get access denied. Im not an acronis customer im trying to use the western digital version of the clone software however I too have left over acronis programs keeping me from installing the western digital acronis version. I wonder if this acronis company is not some kind of malware? Why else would it be so hard for years to reinstall their own programs are they trying to sell us something you know create a problem then sell the solution otherwise not even microsoft is this slow in fixing buggy software does anyone have a link to the cleanup software outside of acronis I would rather not deal with this suspect company anymore.

This link works. This cleanup utility is also listed in my signature below.
Check to make sure it is compatible with your version. It is NOT compatible with the new 2014.
It is compatible with 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010--as listed in the KB detail.
