Trouble booting after prvx3 removed physical drive0 MBR

Thread needs solution

I have limited computer knowledge and have read through many post to find a solution to my specific problem. However I am uncertain if any previously discussed solutions apply.

I Installed True Image 2010. Shortly after starting in Try and Decide mode
I received a error message from Prevx3 virus software. "Physical drive0 MBR found" or very similar. Prevx3 suggested to remove the virus. Which I did.
Some time later I stopped Try and Decide and installed new software through a reboot.
Later I turned the Computer off. Now it will not boot.
Message on start up" Acronis Loader No configuration File Present
Press Enter"
When I press Enter the same request appears.

Windows XP Pro, no Acronis TI CD (DOWNLOAD), Acronis bootable media CD yes.
Thank you.

Hello Peter,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

No worries, I will help you to recover your system to the bootable state and resolve the initial issue.

Generally, when you're starting Try & Decide mode it writes tracks all changes and stores them in special .bin files. It uses special low level driver, installed between your HDD and operating system. In this particular situation that driver started to work, but was blocked by your anti viral software. After removal, your operating system boot sector has been corrupted (this driver had an access to MBR).

So first of all, let's get your system back. Please boot up from the Windows Bootable CD, then go to the Recovery Console (the
first Repair option you come to).

From the command prompt please type:

FIXMBR C:
FIXBOOT C:
BOOTCFG /rebuild

After that, please reboot your computer.

If you prefer to fix MBR using a CD, then please download special Acronis utility. Use it to create a CD and boot the machine from the CD.

The MBR will be rewritten once you boot the computer from the created media and confirm that you want to fix the MBR.

Note: the instructions can be applied for Windows XP family only. For the detailed information on how to recover MBR on different system, please check this article.

As soon as your system up and running, please make sure that you customized your anti viral software to allow access to the system from Acronis product. Or just disable your Prevx3 for the rime when you're using Try & Decide. This should help.

Please let me know if the instructions are not clear for you, I will provide you with the answer as clear as I can. Also, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Best regards,
