Startup Recovery Manager & USB Boot Options not working
Hi
Could anyone assist. My recovery options under True Image 2014 (Windows 8.1 on a GUID/GPT HDD) are very limited in that:
- If I choose to restore the system partition from within Windows, nothing happens after the required reboot, and Windows just restarts
- Having successfully activated the Startup Recovery Manager, the F11 option doesn't appear, and again my laptop simply restarts Windows
- Having reordered the BIOS boot priorities as ODD, USB and then HDD, my successfully created USB Bootable Media is ignored and again straight into Wndows, even though the BIOS identifies the USB has actually been connected. Even if I choose to boot it directly from the Boot Menu (rather than priority selection) it still doesn't work. On the other hand, a successfully created Bootable Media on CD is recognised.
Any advice/suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Bob
Thanks for responding. Unfortunately though I have already tried placing the USB first, as well as specifically choosing it from the Boot Menu, but neither seems to work. I would be content with just using the Startup Recovery Manager, and the CD Bootable Media (which seems to work) in the event of a total system failure (unable to boot), but I can't get the Recovery Manager to work. Also, as I mentioned, my attempts from within Windows to restore my System Drive have no affect after the required reboot. I would be happy to leave the USB option for now if my laptop would re-boot with the options to Restore my C: drive, or present the Recovery Manger, without just simply restarting Windows.

I don't know about Win 8 but can you access the BIOS and remove all other boot options except USB, so it has no choice but to boot into the USB drive?
And have you tested the USB drive, or whatever device you're using, with another PC in the same fashion?

You should see if you can disable Secure Boot in the BIOS.
If that doesn't work you should try creating a WinPE CD. You need the Premium version of TI to do this.
