How to replaces the existing backup

Thread needs solution

I need to know how to set up True Image 2014 so that each new backup replaces the existing backup. I have limited backup storage and have a large amount to backup.

Here is my recommendation and illustration. The example shows keep 4 but change that to 1 as you have indicated.

One problem however, each subsequent time the program creates the replacement to overwrite the old one, the deletion of the old backup does not occur until AFTER the replacement has been created. This means you must allow enough space for two full backups in order to avoid the disk full error message.

If you must delete the old before there is space for a new replacment, then you will need to do the delete manuall (but from inside the program) , or write a batch/command file to do the deletion automatically as part of the backup Pre/post PRE commands.

Figure 11-Full: Example of custom/full backup method settingsIf using Full backups only, this is a recommended method. These automatic cleanup settings will provide for automatic deletion of the oldest backups after the "Store no more than X number of chains" quota has been reached.
In this example, deletion of oldest backup will occur immediately following creation of backup #5.

Allow space for 1 more full backup in addition to "Store no more than X number of chains" as the program will NOT delete the oldest full until its replacement has been successfully created.

If deletion is necessary by the user before the replacement is created, the below is one method for that deletion to be performed. Open Acronis Backup Explorer (as per illustrtion below) and right click on the file to be deleted and then choose the delete option.

The below is the Acronis Backup Explorer view. It has many options, one of which is the DELETE opton for tib backups.
The user can select the most recent backup for deletion; or if some earlier backups are selected for deletion, then all the newer backups will be deleted as well. One good feature about this DELETE option, is that the program will tell you how many files willl be deleted and the user must confirm the DELETE as wanting to be done.

Note: this deletion of backup relates only to those created by this specific task. If you have other tib backup tasks with tib backup files to be deleted, you will need to open each task individually and delete that group using the same procedure as detailed in the prior paragraph. There is no one single DELETE OPTION that will delete all backup files as any deletion by the program is done at TASK LEVEL.
