Huge file generated when 'add to existing file' option is selected
I am using the True Image 2010 Home edition.
For some reason, I am getting archive file sizes that are very huge (over 2 gig) when all I have done is to modify a few small files and a few new files. The total altered content represents less than 100 meg.
I considered the possibility of some corruption in one of the existing archive files, although I would expect in that case, the entire archive would be invalid and True image would abort gracefully with an appropriate message. Even though there was no indication of corruption, I just went ahead and started over by making a new backup. I split the archive into file sizes for DVD's. So, my initial archive has two files in it.
This did not solve the problem. My new archive is doing the same thing.
What could be happening?

I have not done a disk defrag recently. I am booting into windows. The hard drive is at least 6 years old.
