I cannot restore windows 8 image because my system disk is too small

Thread needs solution

I am using a system that has windows 7 and windows 8. I can restore my image if the image is starting from windows 8. If I am on the windows 7 image I cannot restore the system reserve as the system reserve is only 100 MB. Windows 8 needs 350 MB system reserve.

I do switches between these two OSes a lot. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I use the typical default configurations when I did the images.

Thanks,

Perhaps you are trying to restore to the wrong partition. When restoring, you should be simply overlaying the existing sizes. Do you have TrueImage installed on both partitions?

I assume you are attempting the restore when booted from the TI Recovery CD.
Hopefully, you have full and complete backups of everything.

If both systems are on the same disk, you should have a full and complete backup of everything on the disk.
This backup is possible from the CD.

I have two partitions on the computer. One is for the OS and the other is my backup partition. I use True Image 2014 Premium and create my image via the UI not from the boot disk. When I do the recover I do it from the desktop UI as well. When I want to recover it asks which drive I would like to restore my system reserve and OS drive. So when I start with windows 7 default of the system reserve is 100 MB but for windows 8 it's 350 MB. I can't restore the system reserve if I am on windows 7 as it is too small. If I'm on windows 8 then restore to windows 7 this is possible and it resizes my system reserve drive automatically.

My images are custom with full backup method.

Hope that information helps.

Thanks in advance
