Moving backup TIH 2013
Hi All,
Background:
We use TIH 2013 to backup to a NAS, we have 4 user folders on the NAS.
Question:
How can I move a backup from one person folder to another and still be able to recover from the new folder. The backups were created by two different administrators using different credentials.
I have tried copying them into the new folder and recovering it but always get an error.
Regards
SShah

Thanks for yor reply,
I have found the ove option, however I find that I am unable to move them.....
A new backup schedule task has been created to the new folder on NAS. When I try to recover the backup from the previous folder nothing happens.
My understanding of recovering a backup is as follows:
Select Recover from the icons above
A new window entitled data recover comes up
I browse for backup and select the backup,
I use the add to backup list button....................then nothing happens...
Any thoughts............

After you click the add to backup list piton, then look at your main menu where the tasks are listed and you should find a new task listed with the options to recover the selected files.
The use of the "add to backup list" was preparatory to the recovery of the files.
At some point, you may need to take ownership of the files before you can totally recover.
This link may help.

you can also use the search function . (center top page) and search for "ownership"

There was no new task added to my list of backups.........no action is performed when i select the add to backup list.

Recheck each of the tasks already listed. You may find the missing files added to an existing task or original task. When I can't find the files in a new link, I have always found them in an existing link. Retry adding the files to the list. When using the add to list feature, the specific fils do have to be highlighted/selected in order for the add to work.

Apologies for the late reply,
I have tried as suggested and I am still unable to add the previous backups created by another user..
I am able to locate the backups but it is not added when I select "Add to backup"

Hello SShah,
what happens when you simply right click the backup in Windows Explorer and select "True Image - recover"?
Please post here a screenshot.
Thank you.

Hello SShah,
I'm sorry for inconvenience, I incorrectly formulated the question.
As far as I understand, you cannot restore a backup archive after you moved it to a new folder.
And I wanted to know what happens if you simply start recovery without adding the backup file to a backup list.
You need to do the following:
1) right click the file in Windows Explorer
2) True Image - Archive -Recover
Thank you.

Hi Anna,
The screenshots previously attached was the result of
1) right click the file in Windows Explorer
2) True Image - Archive -Recover
Just to note the original backups created are still in the original folder and have not been moved, however as the screenshots show they are unable to to be recovered.
nothing else was happening......

Hello Sshah,
in menu "True Image" there are two ways to select "recover":
1) Recovery option in Acronis Recovery Tab as a part of Windows integration allows you to view and recover versions of the selected file or folder.
2) Recovery option as operation with archive allows you to start recovery of the particular backup version withour opening GUI.
Please make sure that you select the second option.
Thank you.

Hi Anna,
I am unable to see the picture you have attached however from your description I believe I have found what you are talking about,
I have found that this method also works for backups that are copied to another folder.

Hello SShah,
I'm glad to know that you are able to restore your archives.
If you still need to investigate the issue with adding backups to the backup list, please contact our support team. It seems to be a special case and might require multiple logs from your machine.
Thank you.
PS I corrected the picture.

Hi There,
I need to reopen this thread for a question related to precious question.
Since installing TIH2013 the NAS used for storing the backups has failed, I have managed to recover data and copy them over the new NAS. my question is I want to rename the NAS ie from MYBOOK-NEW to MYBOOK will this cause the backups that have been validated and moved successfully to become obsolete or is there a successful way of doing this?
Thanks

Hello SShah,
if the backups are successfully validated you will be definitely use them for recovery.
Existing backup plans, where you selected your NAS as a destination, won't work unless you edit them and specify new path to NAS or create new backup plans.
Thank you.

Hi Anna
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried creating a new backup plan however the existing backups are not being recognised, I tired the method you suggested which was to validate and try to recover using the archive however all that seems to do is open the GUI and nothing else.......
I know that I can open the tib file directly within windows and extract the data however my understand of the TIH 2013 was that software would be able to recognise backups that have been created by it and either be recovered or validated so long as the backups are not corrupted and unable to be read.
I look forward to any further suggestions....
SShah
