Can backup made with 2010 be restored using 2014 on EUFI PC?

Thread needs solution

I have a customer who has a backup made with TIH 2010 from Windows. It's the entire disk (4 partitions) on a EUFI Dell. For whatever reason, they've tried to restore the backup and couldn't (because 2010 didn't support EUFI, apparently.) So we purchased 2014 and made a new boot CD.

I Did the restore using the boot CD, but when the PC boots it claims to be unable to find a boot device.

My question is, is the backup of the entire disk using 2010 any good for recovering the entire disk using 2014 on a EUFI PC?

My gut feeling is I need to recover the entire PC using Dell's process, and then I can just restore the C: partition using the Acronis backup.

Thanks,

Kiran

I think your gut feeling is correct. UEFI support did not occur until version 2012 or 2013 I believe so using 2010 to create a UEFI boot system would have issues. My question is why did 2010 not error out on backing up the machine in the first place?

After a return visit to the PC, I discovered why it wouldn't boot. End user changed the controller from AHCI to ATA. Once I changed it back, the PC booted right up. So to answer my question, yes, a 2010 backup can be restored to a UEFI PC using 2014.

Your right, I missed the 2014 part.
