Painfully slow recovery

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis since 2010 and have versions for 2010, 2011, and now 2014. Most of my many backups of my C: partition range from 15 to 25 Gb in size. With 2010 and 2011, the recovery of those backups usually take about 15 minutes. Acronis is set to default settings for Compression.

When I use Acronis 2014 to recover my 'whole partition', it is taking 35-40 minutes for the same partition that took 15 with 2010 or 2011.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is it something that is wrong with the setup of 2014 or is there another answer. Is this recovery set to write and then read/verify??? Could that be what is taking twice as long to restore?

This issue is present whether I use a 2014 recovery CD or if I am using the Windows (7) installation of Acronis.

Any help would be appreciated.

There articles were of no help. The same image recovered by 2011 CD in 15 minutes takes 35 minutes with the 2014 CD / win application. So the DMAs / hardware has not changed but something in 2014 has certainly changed.

But thanks.

I'm experiencing the same issue in the recovery CD environment. Using a backup created with 2013, recovery takes roughly twice as long with 2014 compared to 2013. I tried creating a new backup using 2014 with the same results. I tried both Linux and WinPE with the same results.

I don't have an explanation but this negates the speed advantage that ATI had over most of its competitors.

I'm using Windows 7 64 OS.
