Scheduled backup hangs

I have had Acronis 2010 for a week on Windows 7 Pro 32bit. Unscheduled backups work fine. However I have set up a scheduled backup, but it does not seem to work. It starts - I see the icon in the task bar - but no backup file is created. If I click the taskbar icon - which on Acronis 9 opened to show me the backup in progress - I get the splash screen with a message at the bottom saying "removing obsolete log entries" and it just hangs on that. There are only a handful of log entries. The log simply says 'Operation nnnnnnnnnnn started'. Any ideas what the problem could be please?

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.

  1. The issue is related to malfunction of Acronis scheduler. Download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service:
  2. Extract the downloaded file and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service;

See if the issue is resolved. If it is not, then please proceed with steps 3 and 4:

  1. Reboot the machine;
  2. Recreate the scheduled tasks.
