TI 2010 Build 6053 hangs while locking disk or BOD

I am using TIH 2010 Build 6053 on Vista Ultimate SP2 32-bit.
I have an Intel Raid Controller in my laptop.

When I try to back up my disk it simply freezes up when trying to lock the partition or I even get a BOD (Driver_Power_State_Failure).

TI 2009 and an earlier build of TIH 2010 worked just fine.
I've tried uninstalling completely and the re-installing.

When I start TIH 2010 from Rescue CD it also works fine!

What's happening? Any ideas?

OK, it gets even better...

I de-installed everything and used the Acronis Clean-up
as well. Then re-installed completely new. OS stops answering during backup.

Re-booted and installed the latest SnapAPI and now instead of freezing, the whole laptop is shutdown during the backup. The last event in the event log is
"locking partition c:..." although it had actually already backed up some 1,5 GB as I can see the size
of the produced tib file.

At the moment the only way I can do a backup is from the recovery cd.

Any ideas?
