"Operations are in progress"

Thread needs solution

Just needed to reboot for a Windows update (always thought that was annoying enough), when an unsigned "Operations are in progress" screen popped up, which I had never seen before. For about 15 minutes, I had time to browse the Web for an answer: Known problem with Acronis ATIH since version 2011. Are we to expect a solution?

Knut,

While there were issues with some 2011 builds, it seems the problem went away with 2012.
Now, if you leave some of the options of the scheduler checked (like wait for computer to be idle, run missed backups on startup, etc) either for a task or for a validation, the computer might be delaying an overdue task until shutdown...

Pat,
It didn't go away for me. Regardless of what one has checked an operation in progress should eventually end. I've had to do a hard reboot after waiting overnight. If this isn't a bug, it's bad design.

I agree with that. With that bug/bad design, the workaround is to avoid having ATI trying to do operations after/during shutdown.

Pat,

Why has this just started to happen? I've had this version (2012 Home) since last summer and haven't changed anything since installation.
I've unchecked everything but "run at startup." We'll see if that works.

Off topic: I just noticed I have an Acronis online backup going. I don't need it since I have a separate plan for online. How can I disable it?

Thanks,

Ken

I'm having the same problem as loads of other folks, judging by posts dating back at least 3 years on the Acronis site - on shutdown, my screen comes up with 'operations are in progress, please wait' (until when??). I also see many anxious queries totally to this effect being ignored by Acronis or anyone else so it makes me wonder why have this forum site. This problem is obvious a major bug, but why hasn't a fix been found in all this time? I even see someone being told this same problem was 'fixed' with the 2012 version, so that implies they are imaging their computer won't turn off. I'm running 2014 version, and not only get this message whenever I want to shut down, but Acronis backup is constantly attempting to run in the background despite my having clicked manual backup (i.e. only backing up when I ask it to). So, if any one out there reads this and thinks they can help with either of these problems, I'd greatly appreciate some help.
Thanks,
Julie
