how to delete backups
I have just upgraded from ATI 2014 premium to ATI 2015.
With 2 of my backups the only option offered is delete, however, when I select delete, I get the message: Sie können nur Daten aus diesem Backup wiederherstellen. Konfigurieren Sie das Backup neu, um neue Versionen zu erstellen."
How get I rid of these backups?

This is something not yet nailed down in ati2015. You can manually delete as described above and then you could theoretically attempt to start to set up a restore and when ati says it can't find the backup, which is still in its database, choose the option to ignore or remove the backup. This gets it out of the database. Except that with ati2015 seeing your backups is a problem when you start to set up a restore. It just assumes you want the most recent one and that might not be the one you deleted.
I think Acronis wants you to just delete the whole task and all the backups, a draconian workaround if no proper file management utilities are available.

I am also wondering about this odd situation. It sometimes occurs that you want to use Acronis to manually delete a backup from disk and remove it from its database. But, there seems to be no way to do this; am I missing something?

The straightforward facility to manually delete backups no longer exists. It looks like the approach for 2015 was to remove all the features that had been troublesome in the last half dozen years or so. Some were little used and not worth the effort to perfect. Some, like deleting files are key features to file management. One can only guess that the marketing department held more sway than the engineers and the product was leased on timed. If so, the file deletion facility might reappear at a later date, but I am only guessing, not privy to company planning.
