ATIH 2009 BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL after upgrading to build 9809

Thread needs solution

True Image Home 2009 blue screen of death with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP 0x0000000A (0x000000B0, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8226558E) immediately upon opening Acronis application after upgrading to build 9809. This error only occurs when I have a TrueCrypt (version 6.3) encrypted volume mounted. If the encrypted volume is not mounted, Acronis opens fine and all tasks work. If I have the encrypted volume mounted, when I open the ATIH application I get the BSOD immediately. This error did not occur with the previous build of ATIH 2009.

Hi Steven,

Just a couple of days ago I read on one of Microsoft's web pages about this IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop error regarding TrueCrypt. I believe that the article provided a solution. I will try to find the article again and post a link to it.

Hi Steven,

Do you have an encrypted FAT32 volume done with TrueCrypt? Latest I read is that the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error goes away if you create an encrypted NTFS volume instead since (apparently) the error arrises from TrueCrypt's fastfat.sys driver. Have a look at this article:

http://www.softblog.com/tag/irql_not_less_or_equal/

The guy who wrote the article had a doozy of a time figuring out the cause of the error.

I have searched the Microsoft KB for TrueCrypt and also IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and have not found anything close. Another thing, this issue did not occur on ATIH 2009 build 9796 which was the build I had installed before upgrading to the latest build 9808. Only after upgrading to build 9809 have I started to experience this error, and the BSOD only occurs when I have a TrueCrypt (version 6.3) encrypted volume mounted.

Thanks...Steve

Tks GoneToPlaid, my encrypted volume is a 10GB NTFS volume with an allocation unit size of 4096KB. Not FAT. Thanks anyway.

I've reviewed the minidump with BlueScreenView (www.nirsoft.net) and the BSOD is caused by Acronis Snapshot API driver snapman.sys at displacement 1a460. The file version is 3.7 build 462 with timestamp 8/15/2009 1:42:12 AM. Can someone from Acronis look at this please?

I get the same error when running MS Office 2010 Home and Business Beta. This version of Office 2010 mounts a drive (Q:) so the "Click-to-Run" streaming technology can download the specific Office app to it. BSOD right away when launching ATI build 9809. Uninstalling MS Office 2010 Home and Business Beta then installing MS Office 2010 Professional Beta resolves the issue because the Professional version does not mount a drive. ATI 2009 build 9809 launches and functions normally.

Wow, love the fantastic support from ACRONIS. Apparently it is typical based on other users posts in this forum.

I had the exact same problem on XP. I found the following forum post related to SnapAPI.

http://forum.acronis.com/content/6529

I downloaded and installed the file. Reinstalled True Image without the BSOD.

I also upgraded to the latest TrueCrypt 6.3a for good measure.

Hope this helps. I also wish Acronis would read and respond to common problems!

Bazz

I had already upgraded to TrueCrypt 6.3a and it made no difference at all. The article you referenced (6529) is for ATIH 2010 only. I am running ATIH 2009 and there does not appear to be a fix, at least that I can find. That's why I posted to this forum. Lotta good that did since Acronis doesn't respond at all.

The same problem here: Win7 x64, ATIH 2009 build 9809 and TC 6.3a - BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP 0x0000000A (0x0000000000000138, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFF8003027DCC) ... any change for the new build and the solution?

Does 9796 work with Win7? Where can I download it - in my profile I found only the newest 9809...

After some reading on Acronis Forums I found the solution - works for me (succesfully created backup with TrueCrypt drive mounted):

- Install ATIH 2009 build 9809 (for Win7 x64 previous testes version genarates BSOD)
- Remove SnapAPI http://forum.acronis.com/content/1620.
- Install newest SnapAPI - build 503 http://kb.acronis.com/content/6529 - it is for ATIH 2010 but works without problems with ATIH 2009 (like I said before: for me :).

More detailed description I found here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5222 - the post #12 by TOR (thanks TOR!)

I hope next build of ATIH 2009 will be ok without any additional work.

Hello all,

Please accept our profound apologies for the delay with the response and for the difficulties you have experienced.

Marcin, your workaround is absolutely correct, thank you for sharing it.

The new SnapAPI build 503 is fully compatible with build #9809 of Acronis True Image 2009 Home and all builds of Acronis True Image Home 2010.

And I regret to inform you that development of version 2009 has stopped, since new version 2010 is out and now our developers are working to improve it.

Thank you.
